Book Review: A Not So Meet Cute by Meghan Quinn

Written by:

     Trope: Billionaire Romance, Fake engagement

Micro Tropes: He falls first and hard, mixing business with pleasure

Synopsis ✨

Huxley – A billionaire real estate agent who would do just about anything to get what he wants, created a fake family to be more ‘relatable’ to a client he’s trying to win over, putting himself and his brother’s business in jeopardy. Desperate and needing to find a fake fiancé who is also pregnant, Huxley strikes a deal with a woman he ran into on the sidewalk. Lottie – After being fired by her toxic “best friend”, who was supposed to give her a promotion, Lottie has to find an instant solution that would prevent her from telling her parents – who expect her to move out soon – that she lost her job and would have to stay with them longer.

My Thoughts 💋

  • The sole fact that this book is dual perspective already had me excited to read it!
  • I love when an FMC is blunt and willing to speak her mind, especially when the MMC is domineering and likes having things a certain way.
  • The microtrope ‘he fell first and hard’ is a personal favorite. I appreciate the art of a man worshipping the ground that his woman walks on
  • Personally, the plot twist felt lacking, like something was missing. I will say it was brief and to the point, which is technically consistent with the MMC’s nature, but it left me wanting more from both characters.
  • The sexual energy and tension were really high in this book, not complaining, but I definitely appreciated the layers to it and how the intimacy developed throughout the book, creating a moment for each level as they explored each other.
